Sally completed her studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast, graduating with first-class honours. She is currently completing a post-grad degree in neuroscience and mental health. Sally has experience working with children, teens, and young adults and has a particular interest in working with individuals with learning differences and intellectual disability. She understands the impact schooling can have on children who struggle within the system and the damage it can do to their sense of self and their well-being. Within her daily practice, it is always her goal to develop and nurture a child’s sense of self and develop their autonomy in addition to reaching their identified goals.
Sally works with children and their families within the clinic, home, and school setting and prefers to address identified areas of need within the environments they occur. She works with families to develop meaningful, relatable, and achievable goals. To develop skills, where possible and applicable, she uses the child’s interests and hobbies and engages in a play-based approach. Sally prefers to work with all invested adults and supports, finding that this brings the best results
Sally is an experienced teacher and specialist educator with a passion for working with students with Specific Learning Difficulties and Academic Gaps.
She knows that students may struggle academically if their learning has been interrupted by inconsistent schooling, attention difficulties, or trauma. Specific Learning Difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, and ADHD are tough to cope with in the school system, without targeted and high-quality 1:1 intervention.
It is difficult for many schools to resource this. It is essential that a student’s specific learning needs are accurately identified and addressed. No two students are the same. Individual diagnostics, educational planning and intervention that utilizes exactly the right tools are needed. Effective liaison with schools, specialists and families is invaluable to build the strongest bridge to success for your child.
Bridge Learning provides specialist education, offering the most intensive, effective model of intervention for
students. We believe that all students have the ability and right to reach their potential. As a teacher with 20 years’
experience, Sally has worked as both a Classroom and Learning Support Teacher in Secondary and Primary settings.
She has coordinated Individual Learning Programs for students, worked directly with their specialists and families for many years and helped train other teachers. She knows what is required by the school system, the classroom teachers, the teacher aides, families, and medical specialists. She has a high level of expertise with recognized best-practice, evidence-based programs. We all know there is no magic pill to help with learning needs.
The work just needs to be done, for as long as it needs to be done. It is possible though, to waste a great deal of time and money with less ideal approaches to intervention. Many good, well-intentioned people will work very hard to try to fill that bucket with holes in it.
Bridge Learning specializes in offering the most intensive, effective intervention model for school-age children (5-16 years) with additional learning needs. Let’s find those holes and fix them, for good!
Referrals from schools, teachers, specialists, or parents are welcome. Sally may be contacted directly on 0422-324-533.
